Understanding the Client & Their Vision - The Timezone Cronulla entertainment fitout, located at 126–128 Cronulla Street, Cronulla NSW 2230, involved the complete transformation of a former IGA supermarket into a vibrant, high-energy family entertainment destination.

Delivered by One Built, the project required a semi-demolition and full commercial fitout to convert the existing retail space into a fully operational interactive arcade environment for the globally recognised entertainment brand Time Zone.

Project brief

The project involved a retail-to-entertainment conversion, transforming a former supermarket tenancy into a modern family entertainment centre (FEC) designed to support immersive gaming, social experiences, and high customer foot traffic.

One Built project managed and delivered the complete commercial fitout, coordinating demolition works, construction, services installation, joinery, and branded design elements across the entire venue. The scope required careful integration of gaming infrastructure, retail merchandising areas, party facilities, and themed entertainment zones, all within a tight construction timeframe.

The design concept incorporated strong brand identity features, including bold lighting, statement ceilings, feature signage, and immersive interior finishes that reflect the energy and playfulness of the Timezone brand.

The interior design focused heavily on maintaining Timezone’s iconic identity, requiring precise execution of branded finishes, feature lighting, custom carpentry, retail display elements, and carefully planned gaming zones.

The completed venue houses over 70 arcade games and interactive entertainment experiences, carefully arranged into dedicated gaming zones.

Custom Carpentry & Joinery

The project required intricate joinery and carpentry installations, including:

  • Detailed feature joinery throughout the venue

  • Custom-built counters and prize display cabinetry

  • Construction of a dedicated party room for birthday events and group bookings

  • Branded architectural elements and wall features integrated into the fitout design. The level of joinery detail made this a particularly craft-intensive commercial fitout, requiring precise coordination between carpenters and finishing trades.

Feature Ceiling & Lighting Design

A standout element of the project is the feature black ceiling, which creates a dramatic backdrop for the entertainment environment. The design incorporates a matte black open ceiling to conceal services while enhancing the atmosphere, alongside integrated LED strip lighting woven through ceiling elements and architectural features.

Suspended feature lighting highlights key gaming zones and walkways, while concealed electrical services support arcade machines and digital displays.

To balance the vibrant gaming environment, the fitout also introduces suspended greenery elements, adding texture and visual contrast throughout the interior. These installations soften the industrial ceiling design while creating visually engaging overhead features, contributing a contemporary retail design layer that enhances the immersive, high-energy arcade experience.

Fitout Challenges

The Timezone Cronulla fitout was a technically detailed project that required strong coordination across multiple trades.

The intricate carpentry and joinery scope, combined with extensive electrical requirements for arcade machines and feature lighting, made the build particularly complex.
